BCS bowl predictions

For starters, I might as well give the top 18 BCS teams.
Florida
Alabama
Texas
TCU
Cincinnati
Boise State
Georgia Tech
LSU
Pittsburgh
Ohio State
Oregon
Oklahoma State
Iowa
Penn State
Virginia Tech
Wisconsin
Stanford
USC
The top 14 teams are eligible for "at-large" berths.
Let me give you those standings again, with teams color-coded by projected losses.
no losses
1 loss
2 loss
3 loss
4 loss
Florida
Alabama loss to Florida
Texas
TCU
Cincinnati
Boise State
Georgia Tech
LSU Loss to Mississippi/Arkansas
Pittsburgh Loss to Cincinnati
Ohio State
Oregon
Oklahoma State
Iowa Loss to Minnesota
Penn State
Virginia Tech
Wisconsin Loss to Hawaii (Hawaii refs @ Hawaii are well, Hawaii refs @ Hawaii)
Stanford
USC Loss to Arizona

As you can see, there are 13 teams projected to finish with less than 3 losses. 3 of them are SEC teams, meaning that one of them (the lowest-ranked) will be ineligible. That will be LSU, unless Florida International, Chatanooga or Auburn can pull a big upset. And even then, LSU still could be left in the dust if Florida and Alabama are both 1-loss. So that leaves 12. Even if Iowa and Wisconsin win out, only 2 big ten teams could get in. No matter how you slice it, we have 12 to fill 10 spots. As a quick refresher, here is a color-coded list of teams that could get into the BCS.
BCS qualified
Not BCS qualified
Florida
Alabama
Texas
TCU
Cincinnati
Boise State
Georgia Tech
LSU
Pittsburgh
Ohio State
Oregon
Oklahoma State
Iowa
Penn State
Virginia Tech
Wisconsin
Stanford
USC

Most likely, one of my teams hilighted in red will lose somewhere unexpected. Oklahoma State could go down to Oklahoma, Penn State to Sparta, Boise State to Nevada etc. Then, Pittsburgh may drop out of the top 14 if they lose to Cincinnati. So with 1 upset, and Pittsburgh dropping out, we have 10 teams! And then for my upset, you may not believe this but Nevada will beat Boise State. No joke. So this leaves 10 BCS teams for 10 slots, those teams are:
Florida
Alabama
Texas
TCU
Cincinnati
Georgia Tech
Ohio State
Oregon
Oklahoma State
Penn State
But it's more complicated than that. Say Cincy loses to Pitt. Both would probably be in the top 14. Who gets left out? Boise State wins, who loses instead? But under the circumstances that the ten teams listed above make the BCS, the matchups I think would be:
NC game: Florida vs. Texas
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. TCU
Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Cincinnati
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Penn State
After that long post, I'm off.

Random college football thoughts

Sorry I haven't posted this week, I procrasinated on a book report due tommorrow, I just finished it. Anyways, here are some totally random thought about college football.
-A Florida team without Tim Tebow isn't going to win 9, 10 or 11 games. Try the 6-8 range. Tebow will insist on playing against LSU, but if your not 100% you don't win in Death Valley.
- Alabama is the best team in the nation. Hands down. Look at my above note about Florida, and Texas is playing well, but they aren't playing like the #1 team in the land. And we all know, defense wins championships. Alabama has the best D I've seen this year in college football (it's nowhere near the Jet's D-line, which I'll hopefully get to in an upcoming post)
- Cincinnati won't live up to the hype. Teams that have gotten hyped so much, hmmm let's think about Miami, BYU, Florida State. Cincy is an "up and coming" team, just like those teams were. They aren't going to run the table. Tony Pike isn't Peyton Manning. And ESPN people, Tony Pike isn't the best QB no one has heard of. Because I've heard of him. And I think Kirk Cousins is better (yeah, that's probably biased, but he's still a sophmore!)
- What's the deal with LSU? Yeah sure, we all know they can win in Death Valley, but what the heck happened against Mississippi State? I'm not going to rank a team in the top 5 that was 6 inches away from losing against the annual cellar-dwellers of the SEC.
- Michigan isn't that good. They just aren't. Let's look at who they beat. They beat Western (I refer to Western Michigan as Western, Eastern Michigan as Eastern, and Central Michigan as CMU), which is not much of a feat. They beat a Notre Dame team that is 3-1. But Notre Dame's loss is to Michigan, their wins are over Nevada (WAC team) and Michigan State and Purdue, 2 teams that lost to MAC teams (CMU and Northern Illinois, respectively). Michigan beat Eastern, and the game was closer than the 45-17 score indicated, scUM (Michigan) didn't put the game away until the 4th quarter against the annual cellar-dwellers of the MAC. They beat Indiana (one of the big ten's worst) by 3 points, and in the game appeared worse at tackling than Michigan State (and that's saying something). Long rant short, Michigan is not one of the best teams in the nation.

NFL picks (against spread) week 3

Here are my (against spread) NFL picks for week 3:
Spread picks (so far): 10-3
Over/Under picks (so far): 6-7
Total (so far): 16-10
O.K., my best against the spread is 11-5 in one week. Ever. Which makes me think, how the heck am I 10-3 so far? I think I'll skip over/under's from now on, it's too much of a guess. But hey, 10-3 isn't too shabby, combined with 12-6 college.

College Football Picks Week 4

Note that these are OPINION picks.
Record this week: 12-6
correct
incorrect
Alabama -15.5
Arkansas +15.5
Ryan Mallet looked impressive for Arkansas, I don't think Alabama can cover.
Boise State -17
Bowling Green +17

This is an easy one, Boise State should cover this and go above and beyond. They almost covered 17 against a good Fresno State team, Bowling Green is much worse than Fresno.
Iowa +10
Penn State -10
When Penn State is playing a mediocre big 10 team in happy valley, it's going to be a blowout. 41-10 PSU, easy cover.
Missouri -7.5
Nevada +7.5

Earth to people in Vegas, earth to people in Vegas. Do you realize what you're doing here? Nevada is the 3rd best WAC team behind Boise and Fresno, but Missouri is one of the most underrated teams in the nation. Easy cover.
Fresno State +15.5
Cincinnati -15.5

Call me crazy, but I'll take Fresno straight up against Cincy. The Big East is extremely overrated and Fresno gave a much better Boise team a run for their money. Ryan Matthews is a beast, too.
North Carolina +2.5
Georgia Tech -2.5

I've gotta go with UNC here, I'm not high on either of these teams. I know Georgia Tech has hung around with Miami, but my gut tells me UNC and my guy was 14-2 against the spread week 1.
Michigan State +2.5
Wisconsin -2.5

Ah, my beloved Spartans. Sadly, us+Camp Randall= fail. Wiscy isn't good, but we never play well in Camp Randall.
Illinois +14
Ohio State -14
Call me crazy, but OSU isn't that good. Illinois' the pick here.

The College football rankings have...

Run into, um I'm being told they're technical difficulties. We should have an update shortly (shortly could mean tomorrow morning or if the program fails it could mean a week from now). It shouldn't be later than this weekend.

AL wild card race & College Football Rating Formula Week 2

As far as the college football stuff, I've e-mailed it off to Dad (as the formula is on his computer
) and the results should be up tonight (but I could run into unprecedented difficulties). So anyways, here is my analysis of the AL card race (NL soon) (number in parentheses is magic number).
AL:
Boston
Texas 4.5 GB (16)
Seattle 11 GB (9)
Tampa Bay 12 GB (8)
Minnesota 13 GB (7)
CHW 14 GB (6)
Oakland 19.5 GB (1)
NOTE: Toronto, Baltimore, Kansas City eliminated from wild card and division contention. Cleveland is eliminated in the wild card, but can still win the Central.
After Boston and Texas, nobody realistically has a shot. So let's concentrate on Boston and Texas. Remember that Texas needs to pick up 5 more wins then Boston. I'm going to color-code this, red for Boston, blue for Texas.
SCHEDULE:
3 LAA 1-2
3 BAL 3-0
4 KC 4-0
3 NYY 1-2
3 TOR 2-1
4 CLE 2-2

2 OAK 2-0
OFF
3 LAA 1-2
4 OAK 3-1
3 TB 2-1
4 LAA 2-2
3 SEA 2-1

13-7
12-7
So, Boston actually picks up half a game on Texas. Unless Boston has a total meltdown, they have pretty much secured the AL wild card. And their 7.5 back of the Yankees, so they aren't gonna win the East. Safe to say the Red Sox will play the Yankees in the 1-4.
More soon!

Error notice: the college football rankings formula is not working

IMPORTANT:
THIS IS CURRENTLY VERY WEIRD. IT APPEARS THE FORMULA WORKED CORRECTLY FOR SOME GAMES, BUT NOT FOR OTHERS. AND I FORGOT TO MENTION, BUT UNTIL WEEK 5 THESE RANKINGS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED PROVISIONAL. I SHOULD HAVE THE CORRECT FORMULA FOR EVERYTHING BY 10:00 PM EASTERN TONIGHT.
Sort of. One part of the formula isn't working (I'm fixing it manually. But have no fear, as it's relatively simple to fix. Which means the rankings are here (really really late). Here you go.

College Football Rankings update

Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, as I've been busy working on the college football rankings. I'm starting to get ready for the 2009 season. This is some of what I have (I'm on week 3, and what I'm about to show you is the first 6th of week 1)

WEEK 1:

Div1Data (3,9,1)= ;

Div1Data (3,9,2)= ;

Div1Data (9,3,1)= ;

Div1Data (9,3,2)= ;

Div1Data (6,100,1)= ;

Div1Data (6,100,2)= ;

Div1Data (100,6,1)= ;

Div1Data (100,6,2)= ;

Div1Data (8,185,1)= ;

Div1Data (8,185,2)= ;

Div1Data (185,8,1)= ;

Div1Data (185,8,2)= ;

Div1Data (10,80,1)= ;

Div1Data (10,80,2)= ;

Div1Data (80,10,1)= ;

Div1Data (80,10,2)= ;

Div1Data (11,109,1)= ;

Div1Data (11,109,2)= ;

Div1Data (12,66,1)= ;

Div1Data (12,66,2)= ;

Div1Data (66,12,1)= ;

Div1Data (66,12,2)= ;

Div1Data (20,24,1)= ;

Div1Data (20,24,2)= ;

Div1Data (24,20,1)= ;

Div1Data (24,20,2)= ;

It's like that. But it goes on. And on. And on. And did I mention that I type in the LEAST in week 1 because a lot of teams play division 2 teams? Yeah. I'd post the entire thing, but it would get kind of boring. Anyways, I'm going to have weekly college football picks. Starting next week, they'll be based of the rankings. I'd do them this week, but I don't feel I'm knowledgeable enough to make picks on all of the Division 1 teams. I guess it's time to go back to Div1Data'ing. *Sigh*. Cya!

Fantasy Football Rankings- RB

Hey guys, I'm back. In your fantasy football draft, your first pick is normally a RB. Sure, you can grab a Fitz or Andre Johnson later in the first round, but normally you go RB. Here are my RB rankings for this year. The color-coding are tiers. Questions, comments, e-mail me at ivarngizteb@gmail.com
1. Maurice Jones-Drew, JAC
2. Adrian Peterson, MIN
3. Matt Forte, CHI
4. Stephen Jackson, STL
5. LaDanian Tomlinson, SD
6. Chris Johnson, TEN
7. Michael Turner, ATL
8. Frank Gore, SF
9. DeAngelo Williams, CAR
10. Brandon Jacobs, NYG
11. Steve Slaton, HOU
12. Marion Barber, DAL
13. Clinton Portis, WAS
To be continued, need to do more research. In the end, this will probably have 50 RB's on it.

College Football Playoff, MLB analysis

I'm working on the college football playoff. I did some tests today, the formula looks good. It's pretty mathematical and hard to explain, but it'll turn out pretty good. And it could probably be used to predict winners in college football. As far as the wild card race, in the AL the Red Sox and Rangers are the only real contenders. A look at the start of  a daily series of possibly playoff-bound teams:
Yankees 73-43 6.5 over Red Sox in the East
The Yankees have a 2.5 game lead over the Angels for the AL lead, and they look like a solid bet to make the playoffs. I don't think they're built for the playoffs, as they don't really play as a team, and don't have the sheer force to win without playing as a team.
Playoff chance: 85%

College Football Playoff/ Baseball Picks

I'm developing my own absolutely pwnsome college football playoff system. After the first "itteration" I'll post the rankings. Note that those are definately NOT the real rankings. For now, here are my baseball odds and picks:
TEX -115
CLE -105
I'm confused on why this is so close. Texas is the obvious pick in my mind.
KC +149
MIN -169
Tough one. Minnesota has a slight advantage in my mind.
Detroit -104
Boston -116
Tigers are finally a favorite *happy dance*. Bucholz is not what he has been in past years, and Verlander is the best pitcher in the AL when he's hot. I think Verlander will be on his game here, Tigers are the pick.
San Diego +185
Milwaukee -215
This line rather confuses me. Sure, SD's pitcher hasn't pitched yet this year, but Parra has a 6.26 ERA and the Brewers are on a losing streak. SD all the way.
Philadelphia -139
Chicago Cubs +119
The Cubs are in a slump, and the Phillies aren't a good team to play when you're in a s lump. Phillies all the way.
Pittsburgh +210
Colorado -250
Colorado is not good enough to get a -250. Even if they had Zach Greinke pitching (even though he's a royal) and they were playing the Nats, they shouldn't get -250. Pirates.
Houston +132
Florida -152
I'm going to go out on a limb here and pick Houston. They know it's crunch time, and I think they can deliver. Watch out for them to make a Rockies-like run down the stretch.
Washington +138
Cincinnati -158
I'm going with the Nats, as I think that the winning streak wasn't a fluke and they have some promise. The Reds would be a good team to show that against.

Well, I guess I'll go back to working of college football now, cya later!

Welcome back with some MLB

I've been pretty busy lately, but in the last week I've started to bet on baseball. 6 days ago I started with $250 and now I have $262.33. Unfortunately, I'm not using real money. My thoughts on today's lines:
KC +146 STL -166
KC's starter has a 16.88 ERA? No thank you.
Pick: STL
TEX -130 HOU +110
Texas is the better team with the better pitcher. Being a Tigers fan, when we played the Rangers they looked pretty darn good.
Pick: TEX
PHI +143 NYY -163
Happ, the starter for the Phillies is pitching 2.49. Pettitte is pitching 4.18. Philadelphia won last night. It's always hard to bounce back from a loss after a long win streak.
Pick: PHI
PIT +118 CHW -138
These 2 teams have equal records, equal pitchers. The pick is the Pirates because this should be a -110 -110 line, and Pitt's the underdog when the teams are equal, thus they get the pick.
Pick: PIT
NYM +156 BOS -176
Mets have slightly better pitcher ERA-wise.  Even without Delgado, the Mets have a nice group of guys at the top of the line-up. The Red Sox are a grind it out team. Mets on gut instinct.
Pick: NYM
BAL (-125) WAS (+105) BAL
COL (+124) DET (-144) DET
MIL (-111) MIN (-109) MIL
TOR (+126) ATL (-146) TOR
CLE (-112) CIN (-108) CIN
ARI (-150) OAK (+130) ARI
LAA (+112) LAD (-132) LAD
That's the rest of my picks. I'd analyze them, but I've gotta go. Another post coming either before 1 tomorrow.

Draft thoughts

My 1st round draft thoughts.
Detroit: Matt Stafford, QB Georgia
The Lions go with the textbook pick. I would've taken Jason Smith, but Stafford is a fair choice.
St. Louis: Jason Smith, OT Baylor
Well, I started out the day 2 for 2. It didn't last. It's a good think at least 1 GM had his brain plugged in today.
Kansas City: Tyson Jackson, DE LSU
What the heck was Scott Pioli thinking? You took a 3-4 end last year. You pass up on the most talented player in the draft (Aaron Curry) for a probable bust.
Seattle: Aaron Curry, ILB Wake Forest
Inside line backer might only be a minor need, but Curry is WAY too much talent to pass up here.
New York Jets (via Cleveland): Mark Sanchez, QB USC
I really hadn't considerd the Jets trading up for Sanchez. I thought it would be Denver or Washington trading up to #8. The Jets really won out on this trade, only giving up a 1st rounder, a backup QB and 2 defensive lineman.
Cinncinatti: Andre Smith, OT Alabama
Unlike others, I thought that Smith was higher than Monroe on the Bengals' big board. Smith will have more immediate impact that Monroe, and with Marvin Lewis on thin ice, immediate impact is what the Bengals need.
Oakland: Darius Heward-Bey, WR Maryland
As I'm watching the draft, I'm thinking: Man, wouldn't it be classic if Al Davis picked Heward-Bey over Crabtree? And that's exactly what he did. I guess Davis really only cares about 40 times.
Jacksonville: Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia
I totally disagree with this pick. With such a gaping hole at receiver, and Crabtree still on the board, they should've taken Crabtree here. Monroe will fit in well at right tackle, where the Jags have a gaping hole.
Green Bay: B.J. Raji, NT Boston College
Crabtree wasn't an option here because of the depth at receiver, and with the switch to 3-4, it was Jackson or Raji. Scott Pioli chose Raji for them in all reality.
San Fransisco: Michael Crabtree, WR Texas Tech
I'll be the first to criticize this pick. Mike Singletary will not like Crabtree's work ethic. He just isn't a "winner". Crabtree just isn't a good pick for the 9'ers
Buffalo: Aaron Maybin, DE Penn State
Thank god I'm not a Bills fan. Maybin or Everette Brown would be avalible at 28 (Brown actually was). This definately should've been Brian Orakpo.
Denver: Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia
The draft of brainless GM's continues. COME ON! Beanie or Knowshon (probably both) will be there at 18 (Beanie was). They pass up on Oher, Orakpo.
Washington: Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB Texas
Finally! Daniel Snyder is the first GM to realize Orakpo's value! This pick seriously only took 20 seconds, if I was Snyder it would take me 2 seconds.
New Orleans: Malcom Jenkins, CB/FS OSU
Unless Aaron Curry, Jason Smith or Mark Sanchez was avalible here, this was Jenkins as a lock. Perfect fit in the Saints' secondary.
Houston: Brian Cushing, OLB USC
Well, this was either Cushing or Clay Matthews. Of course, I chose Matthews which means it has to be Cushing.
San Diego: Larry English, DE/OLB Northern Illinois
If I were a Chargers fan, I'd want to kill their GM. You pick LARRY ENGLISH over REY MALALUGA and CLAY MATTHEWS???? This was a little bit ridicoulous.
Tampa Bay (from Cleveland, Jets): Josh Freeman, QB Kansas State
Smart move jumping over Denver here. Freeman is a very possible bust though. Expect Leftwitch to start most of the year.
Denver (from Chicago): Robert Ayers, DE Tennessee
2 horrible picks by the Broncos. Picking Ayers over Michael Oher? Seriously?
Philadelphia (from Cleveland, Tampa Bay): Jeremy Maclin, WR/KR Missouri
Cleveland trades down yet again. What was the point of trading up exactly? The Lidowns weren't going to take Maclin.
Detroit (from Dallas): Brandon Pettigrew, TE Oklahoma State
I seriosuly thought Matt Millen stepped into our room and made this pick for us. I was chanting Oher, Oher, Oher! I couldn't bear this. We needed a lineman.
Cleveland (from Philadelphia): Alex Mack, C California
Cleveland finally drafts somebody! Alex Mack is a bit of a reach here, but it was a rather smart choice for Eric Mangini standards. They needed a major interior O-line upgrade.
Minnesota: Percy Harvin, WR Florida
Brad Clueless strikes again. Harvin over Oher. Seriously? When you having a gaping hole at tackle?
Baltimore (from New England): Michael Oher, OT Mississippi
Oher is an absoulute STEAL here. What would've made more sense to me is Baltimore trading up with the Browns, because Mack would still be on the board at 26.
Atlanta: Peria Jerry, DT Mississippi
Good pick here. The D-line could use a upgrade and Jerry is slightly better than Ziggy Hood.
Miami: Vontae Davis, CB Illinois
Very un-characteristic pick here. Bill Parcells seriously looks at character issues, so they must have thought Davis was very talented.
Green Bay (from New England, Baltimore): Clay Matthews, OLB
The Packers linebackers aren't getting any younger, any one of the USC linebackers would be a good choice here.
Indianapolis: Donald Brown, RB Connecticut
My intial reaction was: Why not Beanie? He's a better back that Brown. I need to look into that. RB was inevitable here.
Buffalo (from Philadelphia): Eric Wood, C Louisville
2 centers in the 1st round?!?! 2 very bad picks by the Bills, the Maybin pick is made worse by the fact that Everette Brown is still on the board here.
New York Giants: Hakeem Nicks, WR UNC
With the current board, Nicks was inevitable. He fits in Plaxico's shoes perfectly.
Tennessee: Kenny Britt, WR Rutgers
Smart choice here. The have a gaping hole at receiver, and Britt is the best one on the board
Arizona: Chris 'Beanie' Wells, RB Ohio State
It was clear the Cards were jumping for joy that Beanie made it to 31. Perfect fit to make Edgerinn James a free agent.
Pittsburgh: Evander 'Ziggy' Hood DT Missouri
With Mack, Wood, and Jerry off the board, this pick was a lock for Hood.

That's all for my thoughts, sorry about the spelling mistakes because I'm half asleep.

NFL Draft

The NBA Playoffs are kind of absorbing it up, but the NFL Draft starts Saturday April 25th. Here's my first round mock:
Last Updated 4-24-09 10:00 PM, Next update 4-25-09 2:00 PM.
DET: Matthew Stafford, QB Georgia
No-brainer here. The 0-16 team needs the franchise QB.
STL: Jason Smith, OT Baylor
Either Smith or Monroe, Smith is slightly more athletic.
KC: Aaron Curry, ILB Wake Forest
A perfect fit into the new Chiefs system, and less injury-prone than Orakpo.
SEA: Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia
Either Monroe or Crabtree. Crabtree has more bust potential (being a wideout). I'm just not buying Sanchez, they have Hassleback and aren't going to give up on him yet.
CLE: Michael Crabtree, WR Texas Tech
I think they'll let go of Braylon Edwards, and you can't have your only real wideout be having leagal problems (Donte Stallworth).
CIN: Andre Smith, OT Alabama
It's either this or Raji. I'll pick Smith because the Bungals just need to give Palmer some time in the pocket.
OAK: Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB Texas
Orakpo slides because he's injury-prone, Michael Johnson is too big of a reach and nobody wants to trade up. Al Davis isn't afraid to go against the grain, so he still might choose Johnson here.
DEN: Mark Sanchez, QB USC
The whole point of trading up with Jacksonville is to get Sanchez. Orton just isn't the answer in the new system.
GB: B.J. Raji, NT Boston College
A great deal at this point on the board, this could also be Maybin or Brown depending on what the Packers think about DE or NT being a greater need.
SF: Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB Penn State
Without Sanchez on the board, they go with Maybin, who upgrades a faltering pass rush. He's over Everette Brown because he has more upside.
BUF: Everette Brown, DE Florida State
This pick is Maybin/Brown, whoever the 9er's don't take at 10. The Bills couldn't get to the passer at all last year, this could also be Michael Oher.
JAC: Jeremy Maclin, WR Mizzouri
Jacksonville needs a speedy wide receiver, I think Maclin is more athletic than Heward-Bey.
WAS: Michael Oher, OT Mississippi
Oher is the last top-tier OT left on the board, so Washington upgrades there. Daniel Snyder is fed up with Jason Campbell, so don't rule out Josh Freeman here.
NO: Malcolm Jenkins, CB/FS Ohio State
As close to a lock as you can get, a perfect versatile fit in the struggling Saints secondary.
HOU: Clay Matthews, OLB USC
Yet another pick change here. The Texans could use help on in their linebacking corps, so Matthews is a good choice.
SD: Rey Malaluga, ILB USC
If Malaluga's on the board here, he has to be the pick. The Chargers secondary could use a major upgrade, and the only worth-while first round USC linebacker goes here.
NYJ: Josh Freeman, QB Kansas State
Kellen Clemens just isn't the answer. Josh Freeman is a quarterback that's built for a great career, his size will let him last a while.
DEN: Tyson Jackson, DE LSU
Jackson is a canidate to go to the Broncos at 12, so he's a no-brainer here. He's a perfect fit in their new defense.
TB: Peria Jerry, DT Mississippi
If Josh Freeman's still on the board, then he's the pick. Otherwise, Peria Jerry could probably start next year in an aging defensive line.
DET: William Beatty, OT Connecticut
This is either Beatty or Britton, and I think it'll be Beatty, because his measurements are a tiny bit better. If they don't get a tackle to back up Stafford, I'll never be a Lions fan again. Then again, I said that when we drafted Charles Rogers, didn't I?
PHI: Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB Ohio State
There's always one shocker pick on draft day, and it could be Andy Reid taking Beanie over Knowshon.
MIN: Ebon Britton, OT Arizona
They need to go offensive tackle, and Britton is the last first-round tackle on the board.
NE: Connor Barwin, DE/OLB Cinnicnati
The perfect 3-4 ILB for the Pats.
ATL: Brian Cushing, OLB USC
After the Tony Gonzalez trade, the linebacking corps need to be addressed. With only 1 USC linebacker left on the board, this is an obvious pick.
MIA: Robert Ayers, DE Tennessee
Bill Paecells always addresses defensive line early in the draft, and Ayers is a steal at this point.
BAL: Derius Heward-Bey, WR Maryland
This is either Heward-Bey or Maclin, whoever the Jaguars don't take at #12.  Baltimore's receivers aren't all that good and Joe Flacco could use some targets.
IND: Sean Smith, FS Utah
Sean Smith helps them at safety, with Bob Sanders' injury problems, and the Colts secondary is starting to get pretty old.
BUF: Brandon Pettigrew, TE Oklahoma State
In the wake of the Tony Gonzalez trade, the odds of Pettigrew falling to 28 have risen astronomically. Pettigrew would be a perfect fit in the Bills offense.
NYG: Kenny Britt, WR Rutgers
This could be Vontae Davis, but if they don't land Braylon Edwards they'll probabaly go receiver here.
TEN: Vontae Davis, CB Illinois
The Titans have proved they don't get overly concerned with character issues, so Vontae Davis is a steal at this point.
ARI: Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia
Arizona needs a running back here, Edregin James is old and slow, Moreno is an absolute steal at the #31 pick.
PIT: Alex Mack, C California
Pittsburgh's o-line needs some help, this pick is either Mack or Unger.

Trade:
Denver gives Jacksonville 3rd round pick, 12th pick
Jacksonville gives Denver 8th pick

Seeds 3/8/09

1's: PITT, UNC, UCONN, MSU
The Huskies fall despite a loss to Pitt, but Pitt's a good team and it was pretty close so Uconn stays as a #1.
2's: DUKE, OKLA, MEMP, LOU
Everybody stays the same here, with the exception of Louisville falling. I saw them play in the 2nd half against West Virginia and there free throws are just horrid.
3's: WASH, VILL, KAN, WAKE
Mizzouri isn't the explosive team I thought they were. Washington and Villanova are dangerous, though Kansas and Wake are just too on and off.
4's: FSU, SYRA, PUR, CLEM
Syracuse's win against Marquette impressed me, even without Dominique James. Others are just sliding up right up the S-Curve.
5's: ILL, UTAH, MIZZ, XAV
Mizzouri and Xavier, what exactly happened? One of you got blown away by a bubble team, the other lost to Richmond? Either somebody messed up the scores, or Mizzouri and Xavier aren't the teams I thought they were.
6's: AZST, BUT, CAL, BYU
I don't know how some of these teams got this high. I din't know you could get this high by sliding right up the S-curve.
7's: UCLA, GONZ, DAY, OKST
I came to the sad reality with more investigation today that I had overestimated Dayton and Oklahoma State. They're both still dangerous teams, though.
8's: LSU, BOSCOLL, MARQ, WISC
Marquette's season has come all crashing down on their heads in the past week or 2. Boston College and Wisconsin I've promoted to lock status, and they're both dangerous.
9's: WVU, TEXAM, TEX, OSU
Texas A&M is yes, you're not reading wrong, my pick to win the big-12 tourney. They're the hottest team in the Big 12 as they proved in their crushing of Missouri today.
10's: UNLV, ARI, MINN, TENN
This is an array of dangerous teams with a weak group of 2 seeds. Watch out for another Davidsonish run. The Golden Gophers are better that other think.
11's: DAVID, UTST, VATECH, SIENA
Davidson, Utah State and Siena are all in danger if they fail to win their conference tourneys. They're all hanging onto that lifeline, they're getting the 11 instead of the 13 because they'll actually be considered shall they not win their conf. tourney.
12's: MICH, KANST, SC, STMARY
Michigan, Kansas State and South Carolina are part of my last 4 in. I know they're in red below, but I messed those numbers up.
13's: AMER, VIRCOMM, FLA, ROBMOR
American could definately go higher, but won't. I realized I left my projected NEC champ (Robert Morris) out of the last bracket.
14's: WESTKEN, NIWA, WEBST, SFA
North Iowa takes the spot Creighton vacated by losing badly to Illinois State.The others are just following the S Curve.
15's: CORN, NDST, BUFF, ETENNST
I'm calling these Blah teams. Blah Blah Blah Blah.
16's: RADF, MOREHEADST, MORGST, ALAST, CSNORT
More Blah teams! Yeah!
Red- Clinched a bid
Blue- Locked but not projected conf. champ
Green- Projected conf. champ but not locked
Brown- Locked and projected conf. champ

Looking back: Saturday

Let's overview what happened today. 4 teams punched their tourney tickets. Morehead State, Radford, Cornell and East Tennessee State all have clinched. #1 UCONN fell to #3 PITT for the second time this season. Texas A&M got an impressive win against MIZZOU. Rhode Island lost a must-win against UMASS. Florida popped Kentucky's bubble, and Seton Hall popped Cinncinati's. "Bubble Team" Creighton got smashed by Illinois State the night after a narrow escape against Witchita State. Memphis showed their the real deal by blowing out Tulane.

Bracket Needs

There are 14 teams here with 7 spots avalible.
